La Plata
It was founded as the capital of the Province of Buenos Aires and is located only 56 km southeast of the Federal Capital.
La Plata is a cultural university center and gave birth to many famous personalities from politics, to arts and science.
It used to be called "The City of Bias" and was designed by a team of planners in the late nineteenth century to make it the home of the Provincial Government.
La Plata has a lively nightlife, pubs, restaurants, bars, discos and traditional places such as the new Teatro Argentino and the Colosseum Podestá.

What to see in La Plata
In the geographic center of La Plata, you will find Plaza Moreno and near it is the City Hall, German Renaissance architecture. The Government House buildings can also be seen, the Provincial Legislature and the Gothic Cathedral.
On the outskirts of the city you can visit the Ciudad de los Niños, the largest initiative for children in South America. Nearby is the Parque Pereyra Iraola, a forest reserve with a large numbers of species.
Attractions in La Plata
The Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción : It took More than one hundred years to complete the construction of the Cathedral , with a fascinating Gothic European style.
Museum of Contemporary Art: A restoration of the old railway station, with donations from artists who formed the Latin American artists movement. Nowaadays, the exhibition brings together a great cultural capital, well worth visiting.
Nuevo Teatro Argentino: After a major fire in 1977, it was rebuilt to become a real South American icon. A plus to the cultural circuit of La Plata with works of high artistic level from the biggest celebrities in the country.
Paseo del Bosque: 60 hectares of extreme vegetation, there is The Grotto, a cement maze hidden by vegetation to be followed by visitors. Another place to visit is El Lago, a captivating water body. There is also the Zoo, with over 300 species of exotic animals, the Museum of Natural Science for an imaginary journey through the millennium and the evolution of the planet. These circuits and more are part of this exciting tour preferred by locals.
República de Los Niños: It's an ideal world for children, with ambience and scale adjustments for the kids. This project inspired Walt Disney to create Disney World. The fun is great with small trains, ships and buildings. All fitting the smallest sizes.
Teatro Coliseo Podesta: The theater is similar to the traditional Italian, typical of the nineteenth century.
Getting There:
The 56 km between La Plata in Buenos Aires can be done via the highway, in only 40 minutes. Another option is to travel by train from Constitution station, a 1 hour trip, although we recommend traveling by bus, in a little over half an hour with short-distance service.
