Mina Clavero

The rivers are Mina’s great attraction. The Panaholma and the Mina Clavero give rise to many natural spas. Besides having beautiful beaches and spas, the town of Mina Clavero is Traslasierra’s touristic center, set deep in the prairies of Achala and The Pocho.

A day in this wonderful place may include river, activities in contact with nature and adventure. The wide range of recreational activities turns Mina Clavero into an attractive destination for visitors and tourists. Hostel Mina Clavero, Hostelling International offers Andamundos, a beautiful shelter where you can share experiences with other visitors; it has the advantage of being very close to the downtown, as well as private access to the river.
Mina Clavero has everything needed to be lived and enjoyed to the fullest.

Where To Go:

As part of Mina’s main activity, we suggest beginning the journey from the central spa, with its grass edge and solarium shaped tiles. The water depth is no more than 2 meters and it’s great for swimming or sailing in a kayak. It is a perfect idea to add a visit to the Panaholma River.
Another place to go is the Casa del Cura Brochero, and old village located 3 kilometers from Mina Clavero and where testimonies of the actions of José Gabriel Brochero are kept, he was also called the “Cura Gaucho” and was the founding soul of the village.
Finally, a visit to the road of the tunnels, with a journey that starts in the town of Pocho and its ancient chapel that saves mysterious stories about the origins of the town. From here you can follow the road to Los Túneles and the Cuesta de Chancan. The road runs parallel to the deep ravine La Mermela, from where a 180 meters high waterfall, with 5 levels of tunnels and incomparable landscapes can be seen.

What to see in Mina Clavero:

Museo Comechingón: Objects from the pre-colombian culture that lived in the area more than 8,000 years ago, can be found here.
Museo Piedra Cruz del Sur: With its collection of minerals and fossils. The replica of the worlds greatest fossilized spider, semiprecious gemstones, hydrolytes, etc.
Balneario Central: Its waters have great therapeutic benefits and have been compared with the ones from the thermal spa Evián, in France.
Balneario Los Cajones y Los Elefantes: A river with rapids and deep waves, great for water sports.
Residencia Serrana: The river is shallow and with long beaches, great for hanging out with friends. This is a place for relaxation for the families of the area.
Nido del Águila: It is a natural spa only 1,500 meters from downtown and it is great for divers.
Camino de Las Altas Cumbres: Stalls from regional producers, incredible viewpoints and the Museo de la Pampa de Achala can be seen.
Quebrada Del Condorito National Park: Located 60 km from Mina Clavero. This 1500 m large, and 800m deep valley has become a haven for Condors. The park also houses a large native fauna and waterfalls allowing activities such as trekking, climbing and condor watching among others.
