Cuesta del Viento Rodeo
Rodeo is a beautiful village in the heart of Iglesia in the San Juan area. There is the impressive Dique Cuesta del Viento, which dammed the waters mountain range. The wind allows the practice of several sports, including the most representative such as windsurfing and kite surfing. Just 800 meters from the dam is the Rancho Lamaral hostel and from there you can perform all available activities.
What to see:
Pismanta Hot Springs: Known as one of the best hot springs for their extraordinary therapeutic virtues. You can also try some of the most challenging treatments such as mud wraps, massages, seaweed and relaxing in saunas, Scottish showers and more.
Prieto Museum: In this site you can enjoy an exquisite collection of rock art and other objects from the pre-Hispanic indigenous civilization.
Other places or activities of interest in Rodeo:
Paso Agua Negra: The International border with Chile. From there you can see the extensive Andean glaciers. The scenery is certainly stunning throughout the whole year, so any time is good to visit the Rodeo
Huaco: It is a community that has many local attractions, including the Dique de los Indios, the Rio Grande, the historic Casa del Joaquin V. González, and the beautiful Huaco Estancia.
San Jose de Jachal: Santuario Arquidiocesano San José, which preserves the black leather Christ, from the eighteenth century, with the rarity of being articulated and of real size.
Tudcum: A small village with traditional adobe houses, wall fences and fruit trees that give a special flavorto the air and charm the eye.
Dique los Cauquenes: It is a water mirror, ideal for sport fishing, diving and swimming in clear waters. Another option is to look at the vegetation and listen to the sounds of the natural environment as well as trekking.
Getting There:
By car:
From the city of San Juan: After 156 kilometers north of the capital of San Juan National Route No. 40 until you reach the town of San José de Jachal. From there, 40 km west on National Road No. 150, to Rodeo.
From La Rioja: From the north, via National Route 40, passing by Huaco and Dique Cuesta del Viento, and splicing at the height of San José de Jachal via National Route No. 150 to Rodeo.
By plane: There are no direct flights to Rodeo, but you can take a domestic flight from Buenos Aires to Chacritas (in the City of San Juan) with Aerolíneas Argentinas or Lan.
By bus: Daily departures from Terminal of Retiro to San Juan with Autotransportes San Juan or 20 de Junio, among other companies.
