San Ignacio
The town of San Ignacio, is the center of the province of Misiones, it brings to light the Jesuitical culture from the colonial times through the Ruinas de San Ignacio Mini, Santa Ana and Nuestra Señora de Loreto. These are cultural and historical protected heritage and it has been declared Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO. The peacefulness in an environment of abundant native vegetation, the contact with pure air and the mystic of the place, captivates the tourists who are looking for an spiritual encounter.

Where to go:
Ruinas Jesuíticas: In 1983 the ruins of San Ignacio Mini, Santa Ana and Nuestra Señora de Loreto, were declared Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO, these are living samples of the Jesuitical colonization. The Cabildo, The Plaza de Armas, the Iglesia, the Patio Central and each of the areas of the citadel show the level of organization of the indigenous people, in contact with the Spanish civilization. There is a night show, consisting of lights together with didactic and historic stories that explain in chronological order since the beginning until the expulsion of the Jesuits.
What to see in San Ignacio:
Casa de Horacio Quiroga. A House-Museum of the most renowned South American short story writers. The place where the book “El Libro de la Selva” was written and besides it has some picturesque viewpoints overlooking the forest and the river.
Parque Provincial del Teyú Cuare: A natural reserve on the Banks of the Paraná River. From there you can enjoy the landscapes, with charm and beauty. You can also climb to the Peñón and from there enjoy the splendid views at a height of 120 meters and watch the flora and fauna of the place. Besides, you can go trekking in paths and visit many observatories of incomparable landscapes.
Reserva Osununú: Private reserve over a native mountain. Located in the banks of the river, has viewpoints to the Paraná River.
Comunidad Guaraní: You will see how the guaraní community lives nowadays, interact with them, buy crafts and walk through some places where they sell yerba mate, something typical of the area.
Playita del Sol: A proposal for relaxation that goes from a grill, lowering of boats, beach-volley and soccer courts and even an enduro circuit.
How to get there:
The only way to the city of San Ignacio is overland.
From Posadas: It is a 59 kilometers drive on the Ruta Nacional Nº 12.
From Puerto Iguazú: A 237 kilometers trip also on the Ruta Nacional Nº 12.
From Buenos Aires: 1040 kilometers on the Ruta Nacional N°9 and then the Ruta Nacional N°12.
By Plane: There are daily flights only to Posadas flying Aerolíneas Argentinas, then reach San Ignacio overland, it is only 59 kilometers away.
By Bus: From Buenos Aires, daily departures of some bus companies, like: Flecha Bus, Encón, Vía Bariloche, Chevallier, Urquiza, etc.
By Train: The company Trenes del Litoral pays service the whole week.
