Del Glaciar Pioneros CalafateHostel, which opened more than 10 years ago, has room for 140 guests and offers three kinds of rooms: shared hostel-like rooms, standard private rooms and superior private rooms. This hostel also has a restaurant. Both Del Glaciar Libertador and Del Glaciar Pioneros have theirown travel agencies, which can give you information and make reservations of the tours in the region.
The spirit of these two El Calafatehostels has always been the same: creating a place that is comfortable, inexpensive, clean and warmly served by people who understand the needs of the independent traveler. Renewed in 2001, Del Glaciar Pioneros Hostel has incorporated many architectural innovations of low environmental impact. The hostel is built in wood from renewable tree plantations to preserve original woods; windows are thermal insulated to make a better use of heating energy and reduce sound, and have tint to reduce the effects of UV rays inside. The bathrooms inside the rooms are shared to make a good use of them while preserving privacy. The building has also been designed to resist the strong winds and the extremely low temperatures of the region, while offering high comfort using 40% less energy than a traditional building.
Note: the hostel is closed for the winter break from April to September.
